BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Turner Mining Group announced today that Sam Burdick has joined the company as Business Development Manager, bringing firsthand mining experience and a customer-focused approach to building relationships and identifying opportunities to support their operations.
Throughout his career, Burdick has held a wide range of roles spanning mine engineering, mine safety, oil and gas engineering, and sales. That breadth of experience gives him a unique perspective on the mining industry, the challenges customers face in running their operations, and the capabilities Turner Mining Group can bring to help solve them.
Most recently, Burdick spent nearly nine years at Itafos, where his roles in mine engineering and safety gave him the opportunity to interface with teams across the operation. That experience provided a firsthand understanding of the technical, operational, and business challenges mine operators work through every day.
“Sam understands mining from the customer’s side of the table, and that matters,” said Patton Deischer, Chief Business Officer. “We want our business development efforts to start with knowing our partners and understanding their business needs, not selling a service. Sam knows the problems our customers are working through because he’s worked through them himself. He can sit down with mine leadership, understand what they’re trying to accomplish, and help determine where Turner Mining Group can make an impact.”
Burdick’s addition represents Turner Mining Group’s continued investment in building a business development team with deep industry knowledge. By putting mining experience at the front end of customer relationships, Turner Mining Group aims to better understand future partners, engage earlier in their planning, and develop solutions around the challenges they are working to solve.
