Millennials have a bad name, especially in mining and construction. As soon as the word millennial is uttered on any job site in America, words like lazy, entitled, and impatient are soon to follow. The reality is that millennials are the future of our great blue collar world, and people like Patton are proving everyone wrong through actions rather than words.
With only one year of college under his belt, he joined on with Turner Mining Group full time this summer, and already has more responsibility than most 30-year-olds. Patton moved from home in Indiana all the way to California, where 70-hour, six-day weeks are the norm. He ensures mining operations are all running smoothly, while asking questions and soaking up as much information as he can from experienced miners.
The future of mining is in good hands thanks to young people like Patton, who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty and work hard.
